RoboCop....similar yet different

The 2014 remake of a 1980s classic has way less violence than its original counterpart. As a matter of fact the real action doesn't start until after intermission.... However, seeing that I went into the cinema with low expectations I was not disappointing. As a matter of fact, I would even say I was pleasantly surprised.
The story-line was basically the same, Cop Alex Murphy played by Joel Kinnaman was critically injured, next to death and a robotics company steps in to preserve what little of him was left, turning him into a super cop that cleans up the streets of Detroit, while being used as a publicity puppet for the robotics company.

Colourful characters like the media personality played by Samuel L. Jackson (not Lawrence Fishbourne) help to increase the entertainment value of the film. RoboCop's armored suite is black and more tactical looking in this movie than the previous silver in the original. The roles for the most part were well delivered, and the cinematography of the film was pretty good. All in all, I give RoboCop a 3.5 Star Rating. Lets hope they don't make the same mistake the producers of the original RoboCop did by coming out with sequels.
